- Hook
- A four-frame board of object documentation: a straight-on view of four black modular boxes on a wooden table forming digits, an angled view of the same modules, a dark close-up of the surface field, and a raking side view.
- Hierarchy
- The frontal frame with legible digits is read first, the angled views second as explanation, and the dark texture frame last.
- Energy
- Characters are formed physically out of short pale sticks protruding from black panels, so glyphs read as seven-segment-like assemblies of straight strokes rather than as drawn or typeset letters.
- Transfer
- When a letterform depends on a mechanism, always pair the readable frontal state with an oblique view that exposes the structure, and rely on strong value contrast so fine strokes survive a dark ground.
Why it works
Documenting the same object frontally and obliquely lets one asset show both the legible result and the physical system producing it, and the extreme value contrast keeps thin strokes visible on black.
What to borrow
When a letterform depends on a mechanism, always pair the readable frontal state with an oblique view that exposes the structure, and rely on strong value contrast so fine strokes survive a dark ground.

Image strategyOpenClose
Photography is used to explain a mechanism: the front view shows the readable state, while the angled and raking frames reveal the depth and physical protrusion that make the characters possible.
Color strategyOpenClose
Black panels and pale sticks with a warm wood tone beneath; the palette is almost entirely two values plus one warm neutral, and the pale strokes are the only bright element.
